Teaching Art
For the past year, I have been teaching art in elementary classrooms. I have had the opportunity to teach many different groups of students at six different schools as an art long-term substitute.
Saturday School Art Classes
To prepare for Student Teaching, I worked with a class of nine and ten year olds. I created a curriculum surrounding the theme of the human body. After 8 weeks of teaching, learning, and art-making, there was an art show displaying all of the student's artwork.
Student Teaching
In Spring 2014, I did my student teaching in Pittsburgh, PA and I learned all about teaching in a real classroom environment. I spent all semester shadowing both an Elementary teacher and a K-8 teacher.
Other Teaching Experiences
I have always had a passion for being a leader and teaching others. I have worked at many different camps and programs that promote the arts and help to educate children.
